The Longmen Grottoes
Longmen Grottoes is a treasure house of Chinese stone carving art. It was first excavated during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. In 2000, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The great Lusher niche in the Longmen Grottoes was carved by Wu Zetian according to her appearance。Famous for its mysterious smile, it is affectionately known as "Mona Lisa of the East" and "the most beautiful statue in the world" by foreign tourists.
